Julia.....
Not many people will get a chance to attempt this race (needless to say I'm jealous), so when you finish this race, you be one of the elite amongst the few. From my ironman races, I'll tell you to be patient. Let the day happen..... try to enjoy the moments, the small things that go on during the hours you are out there to sink in. Have a good swim, don't panic in the beginning when the trashing starts, give as much as you take, get out fast and find open water. On the bike, be careful for the winds, eat and drink on schedule (even if you aren't thristy or hungry). You will need the calories as you won't get them when you are swimming or when you are running. It is better to slow down or even stop to eat than to miss your chance to get calories! On the run/walk, keep moving forward. As bad or as crappy as you might feel, every step forward is one closer to the end. You will have lots of "alone" time. Cherish the struggles it took to get there and rejoice in your accomplishment!!
Best of Luck
Chris Marshall
